About the Project
“You Dance” addresses contemporary societal challenges such as social exclusion, cultural discrimination, and the erosion of social cohesion. By promoting emotional, social, and relational well-being, the project aligns with the goals of creating inclusive spaces for youth and fostering a sense of belonging. Moreover, it employs evidencebased evaluation methods, making it a potential best practice model for replication.
The YOU-DANCE („YOUngsters social inclusion & refugees integration through DANCE based interventions”, on Erasmus+ KA210 – Small-Scale Partnerships in Youth) has officially started on March 3rd, 2024, and it will have a duration of one year, ending on the 02nd of March 2025. The project launched to the public on the 25 and 26 of April 2024, during the Transnational Project Meeting held in Bucharest, in Romania, and it is being implemented in Italy, Romania and Turkey.
The target group of YOU DANCE are 90 young people between the ages of 16 and 20. Specifically, the choice was made to work on young people who express dysfunctional behaviour in their capacity for emotional regulation, an insufficient awareness and understanding of their emotions, their acceptance, as well as a lack of ability to control and use flexible regulation strategies adapted to life contexts, useful for the maturation of those skills that can facilitate their inclusion and integration in society. Young people ‘at risk’, therefore, who experience a condition of great subjective suffering that translates into loneliness, lack of empathy and anti-social behaviour, which in this age group risk jeopardising their professional integration and realisation and, unfortunately in many cases, their inclusion and integration in the peer context and/or in the community of reference.
Even more specifically, the project targets young people from low-income families, migrants and refugees who are faced with adapting to new cultures, often in urban suburbs where opportunities are lacking. Furthermore, attention is paid to young people with traumatic experiences related to conflicts or forced migrations.
The project can count on the contribution of local associations that work with this category of young people for the recruitment of 90 young recipients of the activities, defined by the administration of questionnaires validated in the literature and useful for ‘measuring’ the problem, obtaining a clear and objective picture of the emotional, social and relational variables on which the project intends to intervene through dance.
As action with youngsters, we will organize a series of dance-based activities, which include weekly dance sessions on various themes, from functional anatomy of the body to expressiveness and choreography. The dance schools involved will also coordinate a “YOU DANCE – WE HELP Desk” for the educational and therapeutic support of the young participants, to be set in each partner country.
Our partners
Each partner of YOU DANCE has an experiential background and professional know-how perfectly in line with the objectives of the project. The partnership was formed precisely for this COMPLEMENTARITY and DIVERSIFICATION, essential to respond to the needs and requirements identified in the target group.
