December YOU-DANCE project’s online meeting was organized last Friday!

👨‍🏫In the morning of Friday the 6th of December, a new monthly online regular meeting was held on Google Meets for all the YOU-DANCE project partners. Representatives from Borderline Danza (Italy), Ipazia Production Srl (Romania), and Ecem Bale ve Dans Okulu (Turkey) met online to update the status of the project actions, especially on Activity 2 and Activity 3, the one related to all the 2 months dance-based intervention lessons held in each partner country with the national target group of 30 selected youngsters. We have checked the evolutions of activities according to the project GANTT and we have monitored the progress and benefits created in each partner country by dance activities organized.

📍📝As usual, we stressed our attention also on project management (A1) and administrative issues, discussing the last and updated versions of timesheets, contracts, invoices, project expenses and proofs of spending for each organization involved in implementation. We also focused on communication & dissemination issues and discussed about the next TPM, which will be organized from the 21st to the 23rd of January in Naples and  Salerno, in Italy, hosted by BorderlineDanza.

Please find below some photos of the online meeting session. Stay tuned for next project information! 🎊🤩🧐🎯

A3 – impressions by youngsters in Italy & final survey submission

In Italy, at the end of A3 “in-class”activities, BorderlineDanza is administering the last questionnaires to the various groups of participants. The activities are coming to an end and the local target group is responding better and better to what all dance educators propose to them. We are increasingly experiencing levels of trust, acceptance and serenity and we are very curious to discover the results that the research will collect from the questionnaires!

In addition, we asked to local youngsters attending our dance classes about their direct experience. Experience, creativity, enthusiasm, collaboration, liberating, growth: these are just some of the words with which the “You Dance” participants responded to the question “Describe the You dance project in one word!”. Borderline Danza’s staff is very glad that the project is having a strong impact to participants, leaving an important mark within them: educators and dancers are seeing them open up more and more at every meeting and through dance, they are telling more and more about their lives!

YOU DANCE project activities were perceived by local youngsters as a great training experience.

In Italy, the “You Dance” project is bringing the first results of the dance-based intervention activities in class!

The young participants are becoming more and more confident in their body and their movement skills and each body activity becomes a pretext to address issues and debates together in which everyone brings their own reflections to the group! A real training experience both for the participants and for all the involved dance educators of Borderline Danza! 🎊🤩🧐🎯

“In-class” dance lessons (Activity 3) continue in Turkiye, giving good results!

In Türkiye, dance-based interventions activities, organized in #Eregli by ECEM Ballet, for “You-Dance” project Activity 3 are continuing in the best way also with Turkish youngsters. The selected local youngsters continued in these weeks the “in-class” activities, which will probably end at the end of this month at the ECEM Ballet dance studios. All activities are designed to enhance their physical and emotional well-being through dance. The “in-class” activities (which will last 2 months in total) started in the proper way and, after some weeks of dance lessons with ECEM instructors in Eregli, some good results were registered within the local target group, both at physical and spiritual level for youngsters.

You-Dance activities continued in Eregli, in Türkiye, for all November 2024 with ECEM Ballet. 30 young participants are still taking part in the Erasmus+ project and, after several “in-presence” dance-based interventions lessons, we are all seeing the positive results of classroom activities in terms of individual and social awareness. Youngsters discovered also to move rhythmically with group consciousness and to be one. What could be a more creative force than being able to intervene in life with dance? 🎊🤩🧐🎯

November YOU-DANCE online regular meeting was held today!

Today, Friday 8th November a new monthly online meeting took place for the YOU-DANCE project partners. Representatives and experts from Borderline Danza (Italy), Ipazia Production (Romania), and Ecem Bale ve Dans Okulu (Türkiye) met online to update the status of the project activities and implementation, respecting the project’s Action Plan and GANTT.
We have checked documents, deliverables and we have monitored the progress and the good evolution of national activities in each partner country.
We started with a review of project management (A1) and administrative issues, discussing the last versions of timesheets, contracts, expenses and proofs of spending. We also focused on communication & dissemination issues, focused in this period especially on national A3 activities. While we still wait for the final report on A2 activities, for Activity 3 each partner presented their progress and next calendar on “in-class” dance activities, which are “in progress” and will end in November in each partner country.

Sharing emotions during You-Dance class A3 activities held in Italy!

You-Dance activities continue in Italy with the project coordinator “BorderlineDanza”. Numerous participants are taking part in the Erasmus project, more than 50 are those who compose the target group in Italy. We are working with different groups and with each one of them we are experiencing the beauty of this inclusive project: in fact, during the “in-class” activities the participants always find a space to talk with others about themselves and their emotions, always creating a deep and generative atmosphere!
Borderline Danza, for the proper implementation of the You-Dance’s project activities, has started to administer the “intermediate questionnaires” to the participants of the “in-class” sessions organized as Activity 3. The questionnaires represent a way for the young participants to reflect on their daily life and their well-being, but at the same time they are useful for the You-Dance researchers to verify and be aware of the impact that this Erasmus project has on the young people who take part in it.
You-Dance, through the activities that Borderline Danza is carrying out in Italy, is meeting so many young people who join and participate to the project. The common element that the dance educators have noticed is selected youngsters’ SMILE: each “in-class” meeting (as part of project activity nr 3) is characterized by a healthy, fun and light exchange between all participants. The “You-Dance” project, through the proposed activities, always finds a way to entertain both the participants and the dance educators who are following them, creating a positive climate for the well-being of all!

“In-class” dance lessons (Activity 3) started also in Türkiye!

Project’s information and communication campaign in Romania by Ipazia Production

Over the last days, Ipazia Production’s team (based in Bucharest, in Romania) kicked off a wide promotion campaign to reach the young public, focusing on Romanian targets group to share at local level the idea, the objectives and next actions of the “You Dance” project and get the word out. For three days, Ipazia’s staff visited various neighbourhoods of the capital Bucharest, bringing official project’s flyers and brochures, engaging with Romanian young people, migrants and young refugees.
Ipazia has opened a “You Dance” Desk in front of the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI Bucharest), where local staff had the opportunity to talk to people from numerous origins and nationalities about the main project’s initiatives. Romanian staff also had the chance to meet people in front of local libraries, parks and malls in the capital. As information and promotional campaign, Ipazia had the aim and the target to reach the greatest variety of young people (locals or strangers).
The overall response to the “You-Dance” project was very positive and it got all of us excited about its potentials. As local staff and organizers, as Ipazia we were proud to highlight how, as a tool for social inclusion, this dance project is a unique opportunity to try something new, meet people, be empathic, feel accepted and embraced – and most of all, while dancing and learning new moves!
Ipazia looks forward to reaching more young people and getting “You-Dance” project started also with dance-based interventions in person, in class with youngsters (Activity 3). For this reason, in Romania, Ipazia Production will continue to communicate project results and new initiatives to a large group of people, inviting them to complete the A2 surveys and to join our next class dance sessions (A3), which will start in half September – beginning of October 2024.

Dance, inclusion and diversity: how dance-based interventions can be useful for integration

Learning how to express feelings and thoughts is traditionally not a subject formally addressed in schools. Free expression can take form in multiple ways, and arts are known to be a great mean for achieving it. To facilitate the inclusion and integration in society of teenagers and young adults in vulnerable situations, it can be important to encourage self-expression and to stimulate the development of social skills by creating safe spaces and fostering a sense of belonging and community. Dance, as an art, can offer tools to recognize, regulate and communicate emotions, and to connect people.

Among all the forms of art, dance also encompasses certain qualities of sports: its significance lies not only in the individual healthy lifestyle that it promotes (regular physical activity, cognitive flexibility and stress management, as examples) but also in the collective experience it provides. In fact, dance and various group sports share elements such as teamwork (through relational skills and cooperation) and values like empathy, cooperation and discipline.

Furthermore, creativity and communication are indispensable during the digital era, given the strong connection between young generations and the digital world – a relationship that, if not carefully managed, could hinder genuine creative and communicative abilities. Moreover, dance creates opportunities for personal interaction, enhances self-confidence and encourage self-expression, which are fundamental to establish interpersonal connections and to facilitate integration between members of the community.

For creation and expression, an environment rich in cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity can offer different stimuli, perspectives and opportunities for inclusion. It can unlock innovation through a variety of expressions and cultural exchanges, while also strengthening community bonds and reinforcing values like respect and equitable access.

The well-being of individuals is directly related to the effectiveness of implementing their capacities for social inclusion and integration. Adapting to new environments can be challenging; it requires mental flexibility, changes in behaviour, listening skills, tolerance, and the ability to deal continually with stress, uncertainty and anxiety. From a continuous learning perspective, finding spaces and ways to practice these capacities is essential.

Regular online meeting held also in July!

On July 8th, 2024, the YOU-DANCE project partners held their regular online meeting via Google Meet to review the progress made over the past month. Representatives from each partner organization, including Borderline Danza (Italy), Ipazia Production (Romania), and ECEM Ballet School (Türkiye), provided updates on their activities and discussed upcoming tasks in line with the project’s Action Plan.

Key discussions focused on the ongoing implementation of Activity 2 (A2), which involves the collection of surveys from the local target groups, including youth and vulnerable populations. While the Romanian team successfully continued their communication efforts and survey collection, the Turkish team faced delays due to the summer holidays. They are exploring alternative strategies to complete the surveys by September. Meanwhile, the Italian partners effectively promoted the project at a local Dance Festival, raising awareness and engagement.

The meeting also addressed administrative tasks, emphasizing the importance of regularly updating work contracts and timesheets on the project’s Google Drive to ensure accurate reporting. Further discussions centred on the next steps for Activity 3 (A3), focusing on dance-based interventions and the creation of a digital portfolio. The partners plan to start these interventions in September, with a new detailed guide being developed to tailor the activities to participant needs.

In terms of communication, it was agreed that each partner would continue to manage the project’s social media presence, with responsibilities rotating monthly. ECEM Ballet School will handle July, Borderline Danza will cover August, and Ipazia Production will take charge in September. The partners emphasized the need for regular updates to maintain project visibility and engagement.

The meeting concluded with plans for the next online gathering on August 9th, 2024, where the partners will finalize preparations for the upcoming Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) in Turkey and continue to monitor the project’s progress. The partners remain committed to achieving the YOU-DANCE project’s objectives, ensuring successful implementation and meaningful outcomes.
